Language
Sampling, Analysis; and Training (LSAT-3) presents a well-organized
method to get beyond the specific words that children say to abstract
the rules that may be governing their language. The handbook provides
a way to use this information to plan and monitor spoken language remediation
and also to pinpoint and remediate specific reading comprehension problems
that might result from an underlying language difficulty.
The analytical
procedures, applications, and tutorial offered by the LSAT-3 cover a wide
variety of clinical uses and graduate training applications. No other
product presents language sampling in this way. Language Sampling, Analysis,
and Training is for speech-language pathologists, speech-language pathology
students and professors, and special education teachers. In addition to
the sampling procedure, the handbook also serves as a clinical training
manual to enhance new clinicians' knowledge of basic grammar concepts
and how those concepts apply to normal language and language disorders.
In the course of mastering these concepts, clinicians will acquire valuable
information that is applicable both to direct instruction in oral language
and reading comprehension and to collaboration with classroom teachers.
The new handbook
includes: time-tested, updated, criterion-referenced language sampling procedures;
new discussions of goal-setting, measuring and reporting change and multi-cultural
issues; a new section on the relationship between complex syntax and reading
comprehension; new fully analyzed samples; and much more.
