FACE to FACE.
Facilitating Adolescent
Lucille J. Hess
Help adolescents learn conversational skills using the time-honoured techniques
of modeling and role-playing with FACE to FACE. Teach the basics
of initiating and maintaining conversation. With this video and accompanying lesson
plans, students learn about different types of conversation, what stops it, and
the roles of both speaker and listener.
In the 53-minute, engaging video, your students will see adolescents having
both successful and unsuccessful conversations. Students learn to identify vital
elements of:
- Negotiating with peers and siblings
- Understanding and solving problems
- Persuading parents
- Providing adequate information
- Meeting someone
- and more!
Empower students to participate in conversations and to monitor their progress.
After showing them a two-minute segment on the video, lead them in analyzing
what made the exchange successful or unsuccessful. Then, have the students role-play
the same situation. Videotape and replay your students' conversations to identify
how they could be improved.
You'll have detailed lesson plans including objectives, suggested sequences
of activities, and ideas on how to introduce conversation topics. The comprehensive
manual includes topics ideas, question and response forms, assignments, and
reproducible data collection sheets.
