Rhinology and Allergy: Clinical Reference Guide is a portable reference guide that fills the void of an easy-to-read, concise, but comprehensive book encompassing all aspects of rhinology and allergy. Each chapter follows a uniform outline to facilitate quick review of a topic, and the comprehensive nature of each chapter provides depth. This clinically relevant resource is organized into six sections that are broken down into their most important and fundamental parts by chapter, including, the History of Rhinology, Embryology, Anatomy, and Physiology, Evaluation and Diagnosis, Sinonasal Diseases, Surgical Management of Sinonasal Disease, Allergy, and Surgical Management of Skull Base Disorders.

Formatted like the bestselling "Pasha" (Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery) pocket guide, this text provides a condensed amount of high-yield information with a multidisciplinary approach to bring a broader range of insight into complex clinical challenges.

Key features include:

  • Contributions by leaders in the field
  • Tabs for each section for quick access
  • Key terms and notes in bold and italics

Reviews

  • Matthew R Purkey, MD (Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine), DOODY'S (May 2018):
"**Description** This portable and accessible book provides an overview of all clinically relevant topics in the fields of rhinology and allergy. **Purpose** As an overview, the purpose is to provide a moderate amount of detail on these topics without aiming to be a definitive book on any one area. These are very worthy objectives, especially for otolaryngologists who need an understanding of allergy and its clinical applications in rhinology. The book meets the goals well. **Audience** The primary audience is medical students, residents, and fellows in otolaryngology and, to a lesser extent, in medicine/allergy/primary care/family medicine. It is well suited for students and residents studying otolaryngology as well as for anyone needing a review or update on important practice points. The authors are recognized experts in the field. Both Dr. Senior and Dr. Chan are prominent rhinologists at well-known academic medical centers. **Features** The book includes an overview of embryology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to the practice of rhinology. It describes an approach to the examination and workup of patients with rhinological complaints. Medical and surgical treatment modalities, including indications, contraindications, side effects, and complications of each are presented. Allergy concepts are covered in their own chapter. **Assessment** The closest comparison to this book is the indispensable Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery: Clinical Reference Guide, 5th edition, Pasha and Golub (Plural Publishing, 2018). This book does a good job replicating the most effective aspects of Pasha while adapting the style to match the specific topics. 4 STARS!"

  • David E.J. Whitehead, Journal of Laryngology & Otology (June 2018):
"Senior & Chan have managed to pull together a leader in this field, boiling down the salient points of rhinology into bullet points. If long prose is not your cup of tea then this may be just the fact-filled miniaturised tome you have been looking for, although, for me, 562 pages of lists, on first inspection, appears quite daunting. The book follows a logical structured format and allows the reader to quickly grasp the entirety of rhinology, in a way that is difficult to achieve without investing heavily in a number of larger texts. Beautifully constructed, colourful textbooks have a place and Rhinology and Allergy fills a need at the other end of the spectrum. . . . In summary this is a great book for trainees wishing to take the next step and purchase a dedicated rhinological text. Its physical size makes it very user friendly. More seasoned surgeons will be delighted by its no nonsense format and possibly see it as an aide-memoire during those senior moments."
